Food Bank NYVarli takes pride in partnering with the Food Bank For New York City

On April 7, 2011, Varli Magazine is partnering with the Food Bank For New York City to raise awareness and funds for hunger-relief in New York City.

For 28 years, the Food Bank For New York City has been recognized as the city’s major hunger-relief organization working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs. As the city’s hub for integrated food poverty assistance, the Food Bank tackles the hunger issue on three fronts — food distribution, income support and nutrition education — all strategically guided by its research. Through its network of approximately 1,000 community-based member programs citywide, the Food Bank helps provide 400,000 free meals a day for New Yorkers in need. Three million New Yorkers are struggling to put food on the table and one in five New York City resident relies on the Food Bank's programs.

The Varli Food Festival NYC 2011 was created to increase awareness and appreciation for the Indian culinary industry. From promoting local Indian restaurants to showcasing Celebrity Chefs, Varli is on a mission to celebrate amazing Indian cuisine. So it’s only fitting that we’ve chosen to partner with a charity whose mission it is to alleviate hunger and provide robust meals for those in need – the Food Bank For New York City. While the primary goal of the Varli Food Festival is to promote local food vendors, we also want to give back to the community that supports us. Therefore, $10 of each ticket purchase or a minimum of $ 5000.00 & 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Food Bank For New York City. The Varli team is working in coordination with the wonderful people at Food Bank to create new and exciting ways to jointly raise funds for New Yorkers in need. We shall keep you posted through our coming editions of the Varli Magazine, through our website and Face book in regards to how you, as readers can help in this worthy cause.
